Today started sunny and chilly but pretty quickly turned cloudy (and a little less chilly). After running some errands in Billings, I visited the construction site so that I could bring you all a fresh batch of pictures.
Between Columbus (where we leave the highway to drive local roads to the property) and the construction site, there is this stretch of road where you are looking down the valley toward the mountain range that runs behind our house. Normally, they are just a dim part of the background, but today, with snow on top, they appeared to be so much bigger and closer than usual. The same was true when I arrived on site. The mountain range looked closer and stretched further along the horizon that I'm used to. It was lovely.
The clouds seemed to be falling out of the sky toward earth and by the time I returned to Livingston, the mountains were mostly hidden. I suppose there will be more snow up there by the time the sky clears and we can see the mountains again.

With the snow, the mountains appears larger and closer than I'm used to.

Roof work continues and there is even more tar paper and vapor barrier up.

I find that weird truss configuration by the front door intriguing. I can't wait to see how this turns into a gable over the entryway.

The excavator is back on site preparing the driveway and parking area, and setting up the drainage. Once that is done, there is talk of getting the trenching done for the geothermal set up.

The plumbers are already starting to "rough in" some of their tubing (well, so far all they've done is drill holes through studs and start to line things up...no tubing yet).

I am going to enjoy this view out the kitchen window (it will be even better once the piles of rock and dirt are gone).

I'm standing near the front door looking through the living room toward the back yard.

These guys are taking the easy way up to the roof.

The gabled roof is starting to form in back.

This sure beats climbing a ladder.

I think it's snowing over there.

Back in Livingston, the mountains are hiding inside the clouds.
