Progress...

I'm a little behind on my updates.  For some reason the e-mailing of photos to the blog has ceased to function so it hasn't been as easy to update as it once was. :(  In any case, here's a recap of what has been accomplished since August 2.

August 4; floor boards start going in

August 5; more floor boards go in
August 6; it's really looking like a deck
August 10; (I missed taking pictures on the 7th because we left in the middle of the day for a camping trip) we have steps!
August 12; (a couple of days passed with no work done because they ran out of fasteners and we had to order an extra box...and wait for shipping) Today the builders filled the screw holes, sanded rough spots, and put in the missing fasteners.  UPS didn't deliver the fasteners until almost 6:00, so they were late getting home, but they finished.

August 13; now that the building is done, we can oil the deck.  The first step was to clean it and let it dry.  Then Patrick helped me start the oiling.  We got a lot done before having to pack up the supplies to get ready for soccer practice and dinner.
Eager to get the job done, and driven by the threat of rain, I returned from picking Patrick up from soccer shortly after 7:00, put dinner on the table, and went outside to see that I put down more oil before the sun went down.

It didn't take long for the cavalry to arrive and we worked quickly and steadily until 9:00...long past sundown.  Katherine snapped this picture of our well-oiled machine at work (see what I did there?  well oiled...never mind)
August 14; I looked out the bathroom window this morning to see our newly oiled deck.  Joerg, who had already gone to work, texted me that we missed some spots, which I promptly touched up.

Then it was time to move the furniture from the lawn to the deck.

Patrick even came out and practiced guitar on the new deck.

Oh, and the gas guy came back to complete the installation of our gas line for the grill.  No more little propane bottles for this grill!  Now it has a 500 gallon tank keep things cookin'.
And then it rained.  My plans for a birthday dinner (today is Joerg's birthday) on the deck were shot when the rain started.  BUT, the deck is done, the furniture is in place, and the summer isn't over.
