Family Mellmann

It has been a busy several days so I have some updates.  During my last regular Thursday visit, I met the "templater" from the counter top company.  He did his measurements, asked his questions, and took a digital scan of the areas. The patio furniture has arrived and is ready to be unboxed...as soon as the patio is clean. The bonus room in the garage is nearly complete.  All it needs now is base trim and a missing outlet. The doors have reappeared.  They had been safely stored in a spare trailer while everyone did their work inside. And some parts of the house, where the electricians are finished working, now have power.  We have some lights!  sdfadfa  

Today was a short stop at the construction site to answer some questions, ask a few of my own, find a "missing" chandelier (the box was mixed in with the large boxes of patio furniture), and capture some pictures.  All four arched beams are now installed. I really like the navy blue cabinets! The chandeliers are being installed.  

A shorter visit today but good work is happening. The electrician was back working in the garage and mechanical room (where the breaker box is) and the builder was getting the last of the gable beams up, and one guy was working on the post bases so they're ready for stones.   I spent some time alone in the kitchen imagining meal prep and working...and got hungry.  I can't wait to actually prepare a meal here.   Meanwhile, with the gable beams installed out back, they started cleaning up the patio.  It hasn't been this clean in months.   And I took another wander around the yard and discovered that I have a CACTUS in my "lawn".  I guess I won't be walking barefoot past the patio.  

I walked the perimeter of our property for the first time.  We drove around it with our neighbor's side-by-side last summer but it was nice to walk to lot and see the views from several angles.  I spotted some new wildflowers and something that looks like a grape...I'll have to research that one.   Actions on site: Gable beams are going up. This was THE design feature that made this house plan stand out to us. Kitchen cabinets all set (the other cabinets were already done) and we tackled a couple of issues, but now we can have the counter top guys come and measure. Post base framing (to hold stonework) is being done. And the electricians were back installing more lights, switches, and outlets. Meanwhile, I took lots of pictures, read a little bit, and did some knitting while enjoying the view. This day on site was much calmer.  After a run to Billings, I spent the afternoon fielding questions, resolving issues (just a couple), taking pictures, and...knitting.  It was lovely to just sit in the back yard to eat my lunch, watch the storms roll by, and get a few more rows done on my latest knitting project. Oh, speaking of knitting project!  For those who know that I was knitting a sweater, here are a few pictures of the finished work of art.  Here are some pictures from today's construction site. The cabinets have oozed out of the kitchen into the hallway. And there's more in the dining room.
